More and more people these days are turning to article submission as a way of boosting traffic and links to their web site.
The idea is that, over time, as your articles are used as content around the internet, the direct links back to your website will increase dramatically and your search engine rankings should improve.
I say 'should' because of the growing problem of 'article spam'. This is partly due to the availability of submission tools that allow posting of your article to many article directories at once.
Predictably, some webmasters use these tools to post poorly and hastily written short articles that are nothing more than an advertising blurb for an overpriced product. Most articles of this sort simply aren't worth reading.
Here's some reasons why submitting 'junk' articles in large quantities ( ie. article spam )is almost a complete waste of your time. Its likely to prove bad for your online network marketing business in the long run too.
- No webmaster of a halfway decent article site will ever bother including your articles as content.
You may get some articles appearing on article websites with lower standards. My observation
is that these sites tend to have lower page ranks. And that fact will probably end up lowering your
page rankings over time, the very opposite of what you want to achieve.
- 60% to 70% of article submissions are rejected on average by the better article sites. No prizes for guessing
why. Those people who wrote and submitted the articles have wasted their time and effort.
- You 'brand' yourself as a 'spammer marketer'. Does this matter? It sure does - your business reputation
is just as valuable to you on the internet as it is in your normal life.
- Even if you do follow the 'massive submission of junk' route and succeed in getting some articles posted,
you will find that those sites that do accept content without much quality control just don't get used by
anyone as a content source. As an article publisher myself, I do not want to sift through hundreds of
articles (even after using keyword filters) just to find one or two good ones to use for content on my websites.
- Junk articles tend to equate with a junk web site in peoples minds. So fewer people will click on your resource
box link.
- A poorly written article is not the same thing as a junk article though. You can be a novice writer
but still get articles published because they give useful information to the reader.
Thats the central key to being successful with your article writing campaign. Put your readers first. Provide them with some useful information or insights.
You don't need to be an expert either. Just recently I read an interesting martial arts article by a person who took up kung fu for a period of 3 weeks, and then gave it away. Even if you've been a failure at something you can share what you learned from the experience in a way that benefits other people.
Start thinking of yourself firstly as a writer, put primary focus on benefiting your reader, and the improvement in your traffic and web site rankings will follow.
